Just wanted to keep you up to speed with what has been taking place in the world of the Bay Street Film Festival.
As most are aware, this year BSFF invited the director of the Monterrey International Film Festival (Monterrey, Mexico) MIFF, along with two other filmmakers, to offer an opportunity to explore our filmmaking community.
I am happy to report that there has been some movement regarding building our relationship with MIFF. We are currently drawing up a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between our festivals. This agreement is to define our relationship, while focusing on four areas of interest, Trade, Education, Film Appreciation and finally Film Co-ventures.
Also the Mexican Embassy of Canada is providing us with four films to show locally of the "Golden Era" of Mexican film and some contemporary films. The screenings will be announced shortly. We have two tentative dates of February 11, and April 8th., 2010 set to show at the Paramount Theatre.
